Update on the blogging site
Hi everyone!
Thanks so much for your patience with the blogging site! Many apologies for the delays, but our newly recruited fab tech guy, Jay Tillery, has been burning the midnight oil to fix things. And I have been enjoying mundane tasks like going into each blog via the “backend” and resetting the “settings/discussion/comments” options…. over and over and over again… for each blog.
It seems to mysteriously reset to require signin for comments. Perhaps it is related to when “appearance/theme” is changed. We have done this several times during the design period. But we won’t do it any more. So if that is the source of the problem, it won’t happen again (by me or Jay, that is).
NOTES:
1) All posts must have a title.
2) In order to comment, you need to click the post title… it will go to that post’s page… which has a comment field. That is the only place where comments can be entered. (I will see if we can adjust that, but that is the story at the moment.)
Here is a screen shot of what the comments settings should look like. (The user (you bloggers) can override these settings… so don’t accidentally block comments to your blogs! Match these settings instead.)
For those of you whose blog “author” has suddenly been changed from yourself.. to “admin”… do not worry that big brother (or sister, in this case) has stepped in to censor you. There were some incorrect comment settings on a post-by-post basis, and I went in to correct. Even though I used the “backend” entrance, it reset author to admin. Sorry ’bout that. You just need to edit something on the post, click “update post” and you will become the author again! (I hope.)
However, if you are having trouble receiving comments, please “quick edit” your post and ensure these 2 checkboxes are checked… then click update post:
