How to find a good slogan for our campaign?

A good slogan should be catchy, informative, and easy to remember and maybe include a little rime that makes it easy to say and shout.

In our case, we should try to communicate our communication desire, which both is to show that climate change is now, that there is a link between poverty, global warming and climate debt, to show the difference between aid and debt and to make people aware that their action do matter in order to make a difference!

“Climate change is now – take a look at yourself and make a change”.

If this were to be our slogan, the campaign could actually be about everything – and it would have a taste of mitigation related campaigns. We need to put focus on the adaptation part and especially between the difference of aid and debt – a crucial point that has been hard for us to realize, as we easily continue to describe the debt as aid. We need to help deconstructing our ideas of these processes by underlining the new idea in our slogan.

Okay, one-step ahead.

“It’s not a matter of aid, it’s a matter of debt – pay the bill”

Here we have the right information included and it could link directly to the 6 bn, that we want the Danish Government to pay.  And indirectly we show how people can make a change by putting pressure on the Danish Government…

But it is lacking the catchy part. What can go together with debt? Accept the debt…

“Climate change is now – ACCEPT the DEBT – pay the bill!”

I sense that we are getting closer. I like the fact that we don’t make people guilty or try to hunt them with fear, but instead try to be convincing by putting forward long term arguments, that appeal to people’s sense of justice.

“Accept the climate debt – responsibility and justice”

Good luck to the slogan group – looking forward to hear the result Thursday morning!
